I've had another year to work with Curio on various projects, and it is becoming even more central to much of my workflow. I thought I would refresh a list with my top three wishes for Curio 8.

1) An Improved Method for Presenting and Printing of Idea Space Content
--
The infinitely expandable Idea Space is wonderful for brainstorming and for collecting content in one place. It maps poorly to the linear output mode that is required when printing or doing presentations. The more I think about this, the more I would like to see something akin to the use of definable "frames" within an Idea Space. Frames would be rectangular boxes that users can set to define printable and presentation regions across any portions of an Idea Space. A frame would carry a meta-content called its sequence number that would direct the order in which it would be printed or presented. It would also have a parameter to set an equivalent to "expand content to page or screen size / remain at fixed size".

2) Direct Methods to Link Fields to External Task / Project Management Tools
--
Whether it be Things, Omnifocus, The HitList, Wunderlist, ... or others, the ability to connect "project centric" figures to have control from or be controlled by these tools in a direct way would be a great time saver.

3) Expansion of Scripting and User-Definable Parameters
--
Basic AppleScript support would be nice, especially directed toward putting-in/taking-out the content of figures (text). For example, I would like to set a text figure on an Idea Space that shows the current directory contents of a given folder, and this could be done by setting an AppleScript or a shell script on the figure that, when executed, dumps its return directly to the text box. The ability for users to set and access globally or locally-defined parameters within a project would be nice too. A trivial example is to be able to define a global %MyFavoriteColor == "dark blue" and have that propagate in all textboxes throughout all projects where {%MyFavoriteColor} is given.

Support for the iPad would be nice for the eventuality that I do get one.

Otherwise, I am very much looking foward to what is coming in the new version!

For me, it is the opposite of what JJW writes. Sorry:-)

I found myself using curio less and less. One of the main reasons is, that it is to "complicated". It needs too many mouse clicks to set things up.

When using it for brain storming everything works fine. As soon as it becomes project management it gets clumsy, and I wanna use external software, which is a pity because having everything under "one roof" would be an actual timesaver and would bring productivity forward.

right now I use Mail for e-mails, OmniFocus for tasks, address book for contact management, busy cal as a calendar, numbers for table calculation. All things I need in EVERY project I've done so far. Which leaves me curio for brainstorming only, and even for that I use more and more Pages, since I can use TABs and have to click less with the mouse.

my wish list would be:

1.) Make Contacts really integrated into Curio. If I drag and drop contacts into an idea space, I'd like to have them in curio, not just a link to open up address book. I'd like to right-click them and create a mail massage, I'd like to be able to display a particular phone number and/or e-mail address, skype contact whatever. Like that I could see at a glance what I need, and I don't have to open up any other software and to click around.

2.) Choose what I want to sync with iCal. Not every checkmark is a "to do". Not every item with a start date is an event. Once again it would be just awsome having a curio calendar that syncs with the ical database (e.g. like Daylite's calendar.)

3.) A "to do" section, that would provide a "global to do list". So there would be a window containing all to do's from all (tracked) projects. So every task would be visible at a glance.

4.) Tables with simple calculation formulas.

Those wishes would eliminate the need of using most of the stuff I mentioned above, except Apple Mail, which would be fine. Combined with what Curio can do right now, it would be THE app to go, and it would actually enhance productivity.

At least in my opinion:-)

I`d put Expansion of Scripting and User-Definable Parameters at the 1-st place. It`s a must-have

project calculation
