New Features

Export

One of our most-requested features! You can now export your Curio idea spaces as PDF's, TIFF's, PNG's, JPG's, or even HTML. The HTML support is simply amazing: Idea spaces are exported as images along with all assets associated with those idea spaces. When viewed through a browser it looks like you are looking at Curio! The Organizer with thumbnail idea space previews is on your left, the selected idea space is on your right. Asset figures found on the rendered idea space can be clicked on to instantly download documents, movies, and songs, loading them within the browser if appropriate. Web URLs and jump markers (described below) also work as you would expect taking you to the web site or idea space.

Inner-Project Hyperlinks

Another frequently-requested feature! Click on a figure and choose Edit > Copy Figure as Jump Target. Then go anywhere in your project and choose Edit > Paste. A jump marker figure will be created. These look and act like any other figures — you can change its attributes, copy & paste it, or duplicate it — but after a double-click you will be instantly transported to the jump target figure. Even cooler, if you move the target, even to another idea space, the marker will still work correctly!

Back & Forward

As you move between idea spaces either manually or via jump markers, you can now use the Back and Forward menu items under Organizer to traverse your history.

Ink Services Support (runs on macOS Panther (10.3) and above)

New native support for Ink Services! If the pen is in "Write Anywhere" mode Curio will automatically capture each written phrase in a writing session and turn it into a text figure in your idea space. Each item is placed right after the previous item. This makes creating word-association lists quick and simple!

Font Bigger/Smaller

We now support Bigger and Smaller under Format > Style to make the font size bigger and smaller. But the Apple standard command key shortcuts for these are Command-Plus and Command-Minus which interferes with our normal shortcuts for zoom out and in. So all of our zoom shortcuts have changed:

Other Features

• Organizer: the preview image is now much more defined, even more so for those users who have font smoothing turned on in their System Preferences (namely those users with LCD displays or laptops).
• Idea Space: figures now glow when they are selected to make their selected state more obvious.
• Idea Space: when you search, we no longer highlight the entire idea space path to the found text or asset figures. We only highlight the idea spaces that contain the found items and we expand the hierarchy to display the highlighted idea spaces.
• Idea Space: if editing text we automatically switch to the Text Inspector tab.
• General: full screen mode is now awesome! Particularly for Panther users.
• Sleuth: added HowStuffWorks Sleuth definition file.

Notable Fixes

• Organizer: the preview correctly updates if everything has been removed from an idea space.
• Idea Space: if you edit a text figure the preview for it no longer goes away.
• Idea Space: if you use the eraser tip of your graphics tablet pen then switch over to the mouse we are now detecting that the eraser tip is no longer in play (aka in proximity).
• Idea Space: all pasted graphics, which are turned into TIFF internally, are now stored compressed (about 10:1 compression) which should make projects much, much smaller.
• Idea Space: if the Eraser is active then the Inspector's color selector is disabled.
• Idea Space: if you paste plain text it will now have the attributes of the default text object.
• Idea Space: duplicating a text figure which was created by pasting text which was originally copied outside of Curio now creates an independent text figure — changes to one are not replicated in the other.
• Idea Space: leftover shadow artifacts or droppings should no longer occur (or at least be darn rare).
• Idea Space: doing a Select All will auto-select the Select tool unless you're editing text of course.
• Idea Space: the Duplicate menu option is only available if a figure or scribble is selected.
• Idea Space: now using a much better means of detecting if a selection via click or rubberband actually encloses a given figure.
• Idea Space: fixed various problems with drawing lines, particularly rotated lines.
• Idea Space: you can now undo line movements.
• General: more memory savings throughout the application!
• General: renamed and moved the Share menu so it's called Mail As and put it right after the Export As menu item.
• General: fixed refresh problems deleting asset figures from idea spaces and assets out of the Library.
