Curio 2.0.1 Release Notes
Release Date
October 26, 2004
Requirements
Curio 2 runs on macOS Jaguar (10.2) or above, with Safari.
New Features
- Several new dossier templates: "Product Plan", "Science Experiment", "Screenplay", and "Video Production".
- The Search field in the toolbar now dynamically searches as you type!
- Grouped figures can now have a checkbox which reflects the contained items checked state and can now show ratings which is the average of all the contained figure ratings. They can also have flags that don't override or change the contained figures' flags.
- You can now easily drag the URL for the current page shown at the bottom of the Sleuth window.
- The Return key now defaults to adding a new list item after the selected (or currently edited) list item. You can turn this off in the Curio Preferences. If you hold down the Shift key when hitting Return then it simply adds a carriage return to the currently edited item (or edits a currently selected item).
- If a text item is currently selected then a newly created text figure will automatically have all of those same text and figure attributes.
- We added more goodies to the Feature Tour to give some additional background on how you should use Curio.
Notable Fixes
- Tons of new speed improvements when selecting and dragging figures around the idea space!
- Scribbling is now a bit faster as well. Thanks Shark!
- You no longer have to hit the return key to cancel a search after deleting the search phrase.
- The tradeoff between scribble smoothness and responsiveness can now be manually set with a new Curio Preference. By default on faster machines Curio will automatically go for smoothness, otherwise responsiveness.
- Fixed problem with users not being able to see the Scrapbook asset library.
- Fixed weirdness with text figures listening to Color Panel selections when trying to change the text highlight color.
- Fixed bug where aliased files' file kind wasn't getting set properly.
- If only locked figures are selected, then the Copy As > Figure menu item is now disabled.
- Jump targets will now be pasted at the last click location if possible.
- The reported MHz rating of a machine with a clock speed >= 2.5 GHz is now fixed.
- Fixed redraw problem when resizing an asset figure or text figure via the Layout tab in the figure's Inspector.
- If in mini-mode and you choose to zoom the window either via the menu or the green glob in the title bar, we now automatically switch you over to normal mode before zooming the window.
- Fixed a weird problem where resizing a window which contained an embedded PDF file generated incredibly crazy drawing artifacts.
- Fixed a redraw quirk when grouping figures that have various adornments showing.
- Replaced the OmniOutliner template with a blank document created with the latest OmniOutliner.
- Very simple change so the asset library only saves itself if something has actually been modified. For huge projects this is a particularly time-saving tweak!
- New graphic for the label dropdown so it won't be confused with the lightbulb flag.
- Fixed problem moving or copying a list hierarchy if both a parent and child are selected.
- You can no longer group, ungroup, or collect figures that are already in a list.
- Fixed an issue where if the option key is being held down while Cutting or Arranging into List we would ask you a weird question about deleting items from the entire project.
- We now retrieve favicons for dropped or pasted weblinks in the background (asynchronously). This makes it much more responsive and no longer hangs on "bad" sites.
- The check for Curio updates now happens in the background so application startup time is now a bit faster (particularly if our website hosting service is having problems.... grrrr....).
