Feature Availability

Features only available in certain editions will be listed with color-coded words like this [ProK12HomeBasic].

New Features

  • [Basic] Publish your projects to your .Mac account iDisk with a single click!
  • [Basic] All exporting functions are now smart in that only idea spaces modified since the last export will be re-exported.
  • Line endpoints can now stick to a figure or to a location within a figure. If no keys are held down then we point to the intersection on the shape between the center of the shape and the opposite endpoint. Hold down the Command key and we'll remember the relative location of the endpoint within the figure. Hold down the Option key and no sticking will occur.
  • New advanced grid: you can now independently control the horizontal and vertical grid visibility and snap, and we include some bundled styles for notebook paper, college-ruled, legal, white- and yellow-tint quadrille, and green- and yellow-tint engineering paper.
  • New Copy As > Text Outline menu item will extract the selected figures out of a list as an indented text string. A new Preference controls whether tabs are used for indentions or not.
  • [ProK12] New dossiers: Lesson Plan and Notes.
  • [Pro] New dossiers: Grant Proposal and Training Plan.
  • Added new line arrowhead: JJ Garrett's stop line decoration.
  • New idea space background textures including corkboard and several paper textures.
  • New feature in the Text Inspector: force an exact line height for the selected text by entering a point value into the Exact Line Height field. Press the Auto button to allow line height to be automatically determined by the system. Press the From Grid button to set the line height to the same as the vertical grid spacing -- this is set automatically if creating new text on a "notebook paper" page.
  • Now showing mpg and mpeg movies as "live" asset movies figures within the idea space instead of generic asset figures.
  • Shift-S now toggles a figure's shadow property.
  • Command-F now brings focus to the Search field in the toolbar (showing the toolbar if necessary).
  • List collections can now be shapeshifted.
  • List prefix style, size, and color are now stored via the Format > Set Default Style for List Figure menu action.

Notable Fixes

  • The selection of lists is now much more user friendly. If the list is not currently selected then clicking a list item will now select the list, only after the list is selected can you select a list item.
  • If you set a shapeshifter shape and it automatically sets a 1-pixel border width (if there was no border previously) then undoing will now undo the setting of that border width.
  • Increased the Organizer's margin for the label color to 3 pixels instead of 2 pixels so it's more obvious when an idea space is labeled.
  • When creating text with the text tool various attributes selected on the Inspector before the initial click now make it into the created text
  • When hovering over an asset figure the tooltip text now details if the asset is embedded or aliased.
  • When saving an idea space we now see if the user erased everything off the scribble layer and thus store nothing instead of saving a big honking bitmap filled with nothing.
  • When closing a project we make sure all memory which was allocated is freed.
  • Fixed an issue where the user may be prompted that Curio was unable to save a project if the user simply clicked on Dossier and then clicked cancel.
  • When creating a new text figure, in a list or outside the list, by hitting Return or Command-Return when a text item is selected, we are now clearing the checked state, any set user flags, and the set rating for the created item.
  • Made it so when editing a text figure in a list, pressing the down arrow at the bottom of a list (or up arrow at the top) doesn't end editing mode for that item.
  • Huge speedup when rubberband selecting a bunch of items: Curio now goes into QuickRender mode and waits until the mouse is up before updating the Inspector.
  • When Curio saves default style information about a font it will now remember the typeface name which is more accurate than the family name with bold/italic attributes.
  • Curio now handles QuickTime .mov files which are music-only and don't contain visual data. They are now correctly turned into music asset figures.
  • I tweaked Curio so it opens psd files with Photoshop if the 8BIM creator or type code is assigned to an application and the file doesn't already have a creator or type code.
