Release Date

April 19, 2005

Requirements

Curio 2 runs on macOS Jaguar (10.2) or above, with Safari.

Feature Availability

Features only available in certain editions will be listed with color-coded words like this [ProK12HomeBasic].

New Features

Idea Space Clipboard Support

You can now Cut, Copy, Duplicate, and Paste as well as drag and drop and option-drag idea spaces within a project or between projects! Yippee!

Idea Spaces Can Automatically Grow

Idea spaces can now automatically grow as you add or resize figures! See the Layout tab in the idea space Inspector for more options.

Figure Actions [ProK12Home]

Any figure can now have an action associated with it via the new Actions inspector. Figures can now:

  1. Navigate the idea spaces: first/last/previous/next/back/forward.
  2. Go to a jump target which can be an idea space or a specific figure on an idea space located anywhere in the project. If the figure or idea space is moved, this action will still track it down!
  3. Open a webpage.
  4. Open a file.
  5. Bring up a new email message window with To and Subject fields pre-filled in.
  6. [ProK12] Launch the specified AppleScript source code.

Restriction Preference [K12]

Curio K-12 Edition supports a new Restriction Preference panel which allows administrators to:

  1. Disallow editing Dossier questions.
  2. Disallow editing Sleuth sites.
  3. Block Sleuth search queries which contain profanity.
  4. Block Sleuth search results which contain profanity.
A fully-customizable profanity filter is already in place with approximately 200 phrases. Default blocked phrases can be made allowed, and new disallowed words can be added.

Copy to Scrapbook [ProK12]

Easily add an asset to your cross-project Scrapbook via the new "Copy to Scrapbook" feature under the Asset menu and the idea space and Library context menus.

Other Features

  • Idea space previews in the Organizer now appear with their background image and grid.
  • A new Curio Preference allows you to turn off sticky lines by default.
  • If you rename an asset's title in an idea space or in the Library then the underlying embedded file is also renamed.
  • For those users with OS X 10.3.9 or greater, an attribution line now appears at the end of text copied from Safari or Sleuth so you can easily go back to the page it came from. We also use this technique to associate an URL with an image if we cannot find one directly.

Notable Fixes

  • [ProK12] Dossier's editor and Sleuth's editor no longer show drawing artifacts in Tiger.
  • [ProK12] Sleuth's site editor now supports URLs dragged from Firefox.
  • [ProK12] Fixed a bug where Sleuth's site editor wasn't accepting drops from other applications in some instances.
